Admiral
Raeder's War - available March 2011!
Even the most elaborate feats by the greatest illusionists like Houdini and
David Copperfield pale in comparison to those pulled off by governments in
war time. Take for example Saddam Hussein’s disappearing weapons of
mass destruction. Or during World War Two, Patton’s phony army in southern
England. Or the Wehrmacht’s sleight of hand leading up to the Battle
of the Bulge. But these, too, are small, almost amateurish illusions when
placed against the greatest of them all – the truth of what went on
in the North Atlantic from June 1940 until April 1943 as reported by the
Allies and how Admiral Raeder’s Navy, with some help from his friends,
came within a hair’s breath of winning. In this novel, Walling's narrator
is the sole remaining witness to all that occurred on both sides.
